Pondicherry government, in its tax free budget-2014, has announced that the financial assistance to the students from the unorganised sector, under Centralised Admissions Committee (CENTAC) for medical, engineering courses, has been doubled. According to the budget-2014, the financial aid for MBBS students has been increased from Rs 50,000 to Rs 1 lakh and for engineering students raised from Rs 25,000/- to Rs 50,000/-. The students who belong to SC category, and are pursuing medical courses under CENTAC will be increased from 2.25 lakh to 3.25 lakh for each. For the students who selected engineering courses under CENTAC will be increased from Rs 25,000/- to Rs 35,000/-. The scholarships for the differently-abled students will also be increased
