October 4, 2019 - Heretofore, AIIMS MBBS and JIPMER MBBS was being conducted by AIIMS, New Delhi and JIPMER, Puducherry respectively. As apprised by MoHFW in NEET latest news and updates 2020, the national level entrance examination will be single medical entrance exam for undergraduate courses in the country, thus, AIIMS MBBS and JIPMER MBBS have been scrapped henceforth.

August 8, 2019 - President Ram Nath Kovind gave his approval to the NMC Bill by signing the same. The bill will come into full force within a period of three years, i.e., by 2021. Fractional changes from the bill can be seen being implemented by the ministry, one of which is scrapping of AIIMS and JIPMER entrance examination for undergraduate courses

July 22, 2019 - The list of latest news and updates of NEET is being topped by the NMC bill which was introduced in the Lok Sabha. Until now, NEET was being conducted by National Testing Agency (NTA), but in lieu of the same NMC is going to be the new Medical Council for all admissions and queries in the field of medicine. NMC bill introduces National Exit Test (NEXT), which is to be applicable on all the medical institutions including those of national importance. Hence, there is going to be a common medical entrance test for undergraduate courses.

What is NMC bill?

NEET latest news and updates 2020 suggests that NMC bill aims at replacing the Medical Council of India (MCI) which is nearly sixty three years old . On July 22, 2019, Dr. Harsh Vardhan, Minister of MoHFW proposed the bill in the Parliament. The bill will bring in changes as cited below:

  • The medical field will be strengthened with the presence of highly qualified and adequate number of medical professionals

  • Medical professionals will be able to adopt the latest methods of medical research

  • The NMC bill will assure periodic evaluation of all the medical institutions

  • Additionally, there will be an effective mechanism for grievance redressal
