University is located in Chennai & new university was formed from the University of Madras faculty of Engineering & Technology.
Anna University consisted of 4 institutes, i.e., Madras Institute of Technology, College of Engineering, Guindy, Alagappa College of Technology & Planning. Anna University became an affiliating university in the year 2001 taking all engineering colleges in Tamil Nadu under its wings which included six govt. Colleges, three govt aided private institutions & 426 self-financing colleges.
University conducts a common entrance test for the candidates to get admission to professional courses; University declares its result on their official website, i.e., www.annauniv.edu
